Stella signs off from Talking Vision

04 March 2021

After almost six years Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program Talking Vision is set to have a new voice bringing the latest from the blind and low vision community to listeners.

Stella Glorie, who has been producing and hosting the show since 2015, will this month step back from the role and make way for new host Sam Colley.

“Producing and hosting Talking Vision has been a dream job,” Stella said. “Being able to work in radio and speaking to so many inspiring and generous people who shared their stories with me and the show’s listeners has been an honour,” she said.

Many listeners will already be familiar with Sam, who has been a contributor to Talking Vision since joining Vision Australia as a Career Start Graduate in 2019, and Stella believes the show is in the right hands. “I’m thrilled Sam is stepping to both producing and hosting the program. Sam brings enthusiasm, youth, a natural aptitude for radio and, very importantly, lived experience to the role.

“Vision Australia can be enormously proud of the work Talking Vision does and the reach it has in our community. Sam will continue this and give the show a new lease of life.”

Stella will still be a part of the Vision Australia organisation, working to promote our Library and other areas of our services. There might even be a guest appearance on Talking Vision from time to time.

“When I took over from [long time host] Stephen Jolley in 2015, he was a real mentor for me. As someone who is sighted, I didn’t have the same connection to the community and Stephen helped me build my networks.

“I’ve really enjoyed being able to play a similar role in helping Sam to get to the point where he’s ready to take over. I’ll miss Talking Vision and I hope Sam will let me on air for the occasional guest slot.”

Talking Vision is a weekly national radio program and can be heard through the Vision Australia Radio and the RPH network and through the main podcast channels.
