A Literary Festival with a Difference
From 26 September to 10 October 2025, Fremantle/Walyalup will light up as Totally Lit – Adventures in the Port City, a bold literary festival that takes storytelling beyond the page and into unexpected venues like bars, museums, theatres, beaches, and public spaces.
The festival officially kicks off with a keynote by Kim Scott - a two-time Miles Franklin Award–winning Noongar author - at a launch event on 26 September at the WA Maritime Museum.
Storytelling Experiences for All
The diverse program includes immersive and sensory-rich experiences:
- Writ Large: Throughout the festival, the Fremantle Ports Administration Building becomes a living canvas for storytelling projections every evening. T
- Spicy Little Secrets: An evening of uncensored Barefaced Stories featuring irresistibly steamy tales.
- Scale to Tail by Fervor: A site-specific degustation experience crafted by Chef Paul “Yoda” Iskov, blending food and storytelling over two nights (3–4 October).
- Family activities: Highlights include Big Book Market (5 October), Adventures in the Port City Trail, Story Wheel, and children's literary events like Bilingual Story Time and Dancing with Words.
There's something for everyone - from history and performative art to food, family fun, and Indigenous storytelling.
