April is Radiothon time for Vision Australia Radio. And we’re asking our listeners, and the broader community for its support to continue our essential service.
What will be happening
The Radiothon is a golden opportunity to highlight the vitality and scope of our radio network and to help people understand the immeasurable benefits it supplies to our blindness and low vision community and anyone with a print disability.
This month, alongside your favourite regular presenters and guests, you’ll hear interviews and testimonials from special guests reiterating this message, and the number of ways you can support us during our 2023 Vision Australia Radiothon.
Why Vision Australia Radio is important
Without your support Vision Australia Radio cannot exist.
The Vision Australia Radio network is a not-for-profit essential service for people who are blind or have low vision, and those living with a print disability.
We offer a range of interesting and informative programs that feature readings from the latest newspapers, magazines and books.
It keeps people connected, informed and entertained on topics they care about that mainstream media doesn’t regularly cover.
Our exclusive specialist content includes programs on new technology, current affairs, book and film reviews, health and wellbeing, the arts, finance, travel and more.
Why we need your help
Although Vision Australia Radio operates with a workforce of 500+ volunteers and a handful of dedicated staff it still runs at a deficit each year. This is largely due to skyrocketing broadcasting and transmission costs and limited government funding.
This year’s Vision Australia Radiothon is more vital than ever.
How you can help
There are a number of ways you could lend your support:
- Make a tax-deductible donation of $2 or more during April
- Follow Vision Australia Radio on Facebook and Twitter and share our positive radiothon messages
- Encourage your followers, friends and family to consider supporting our essential service
