Matthew Layton presents Studio 1 - Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life from a low vision and blind point of view.
Transitioning from secondary education to TAFE, university or the workplace is hard enough, and that can be even more challenging if you live with blindness or low vision.
That’s why young people aged 14-17 from across Australia who are blind or have low vision have been encouraged to apply for Vision Australia’s LEAP (Learn, Engage, Act, Perform) program.
2021 will be the third year Vision Australia has run the LEAP program, which is designed to help participants develop and achieve goals in areas such as personal development and leadership, as well as put them on the path to their best vocational outcome.
Matthew talks to Vision Australia’s Claire Nolan who gives us an overview of the program.
Claire brings with her Sam and Talaya who are both taking part in the 2020 program.
We’ll also be talking to their mentors, Harmonie Downes of Arts Access Australia and a bloke called Matthew Layton who you also may have heard of!
If you'd like to contact the show, you can call or text us on 0450 078 834, email us on [email protected], or send us a tweet on either the Vision Australia Radio twitter page or tweet Matthew himself.
Applications for LEAP 2021 are now open! To find out more about LEAP or to apply, click here.
