Vision Australia Radio has welcomed Dr Nat Grant as Operations Manager for Victoria, joining the organisation at a time of significant transformation across its radio and audio services.
With more than 15 years of experience spanning community broadcasting, podcasting, live performance and digital storytelling, Nat brings a deep understanding of the power of audio to connect people, share stories and build stronger communities.
"I'm in listening mode," Nat said. "I'm meeting people, learning from staff and volunteers, and understanding what makes Vision Australia Radio so special to the people who support it and rely on it."
Shaping the future of Audio Services
Nat joins Vision Australia Radio as the organisation continues to adapt to changing technology, audience habits and broadcasting platforms.
Recent changes, including the transition away from AM broadcasting in some markets and a growing focus on digital delivery, are designed to ensure the long-term sustainability of services for people who are blind, have low vision, or are unable to access printed information.
"Vision Australia Radio has been around for over 40 years, and we want it to continue for at least another 40 years," Nat said.
"These changes are about making sure we can continue delivering the information, stories and services that our audience values well into the future."
Alongside traditional broadcasting, Vision Australia Radio continues to grow its digital footprint through podcasts, streaming services and on-demand audio content, giving audiences more ways than ever to access information and entertainment.
A passion for storytelling
Before joining Vision Australia Radio, Nat served as Station Manager at Mountain District Radio (3MDR) in Melbourne's Dandenong Ranges and has worked extensively across community media, mentoring broadcasters and supporting volunteer development.
An award-winning podcaster and sound artist, Nat is a passionate advocate for preserving stories through audio.
Their long-running podcast Prima Donna explores the lives and creative journeys of Australian women artists, capturing important oral histories and making them freely accessible to audiences.
"It's important that people can tell their own stories in their own voices," Nat said.
That philosophy aligns strongly with Vision Australia Radio's mission to amplify diverse voices and deliver meaningful content that informs, entertains and connects listeners.

Accessibility at the centre
Accessibility has been a consistent focus throughout Nat's career.
At 3MDR, Nat worked alongside broadcasters who are blind or have low vision, implementing practical studio modifications to make on-air broadcasting more accessible.
Simple enhancements such as tactile markers, accessible workflows and adaptable technology helped presenters independently operate broadcasting equipment and produce their own programs.
"Making a space accessible for one person often makes it better for everyone," Nat said.
This commitment to accessibility aligns closely with Vision Australia Radio's audience-first approach and ongoing efforts to ensure people who are blind, have low vision or have a print disability can access information in formats that work for them.
Building on strong foundations
While much of Nat's early focus will be on listening, learning and supporting staff and volunteers, there is clear enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead.
With a national audience approaching half a million listeners, a growing suite of podcasts, dedicated volunteers, and an expanding range of digital audio services, Vision Australia Radio is continuing to evolve while remaining true to its purpose.
As the organisation enters its next chapter, Nat believes audio will remain one of the most powerful ways to connect people with stories, information and each other.
"It's an exciting time to be part of Vision Australia Radio," Nat said. "There's a lot happening, but there's also a tremendous opportunity to strengthen what we do and continue making a real difference in people's lives."
