Vision Australia Radio announces Accessibility Partnership with Black Swan State Theatre Company

30 September 2025

Vision Australia Radio is proud to announce a new Accessibility Partnership with Black Swan State Theatre Company, built on a shared commitment to inclusion and accessibility in the arts.

Through this partnership, both organisations are working to ensure that more people who are blind or have low vision can experience the power of live theatre. From high-quality audio description and tactile tours to accessible programs, Auslan interpretation, captioning, wheelchair access, and companion seating, audiences will have more opportunities than ever before to enjoy performances—whether attending solo or with a companion.

“Vision Australia has a long-standing commitment to providing and promoting audio description as a way of opening up arts and cultural experiences to people who are blind or have low vision,” said Conrad Browne, Manager of Vision Australia Radio and Audio.

“This partnership with Black Swan State Theatre Company is an important step in ensuring theatre is not only accessible but welcoming, and that everyone can share in the joy of live performance.”

“At Black Swan, we want everyone to feel welcome in our theatres. This partnership with Vision Australia Radio helps us open up the joy of live performance to people who are blind or have low vision, ensuring theatre is an experience we can all share” explains Black Swan State Theatre Company CEO Ian Booth.

Together, Vision Australia Radio and Black Swan State Theatre Company look forward to promoting a season of events that demonstrate the importance of inclusive arts, ensuring theatre can be enjoyed by all.
