This week is the last of the special New York interviews on Behind the Scenes, and host Chris Thompson assures us that it promises to be the most entertaining yet. This week Chris will be interviewing Joanna Merlin. “You probably know Joanna Merlin, even if you don’t know that you know her,” says Chris.
If you were a fan of the 1980 hit movie Fame, then you might remember her as the dance teacher Miss Berg, or if you’re a fan of the original version of long running television series Law & Order then you might remember her as Judge Lena Petrovsky. If you happened to have been in the audience for the original Broadway season of Fiddler on the Roof in 1964, you’d most certainly remember her playing the role of Tzeitel singing ‘Matchmaker’.
What you wouldn’t necessarily know, however, is all the work she’s done as a Casting Director for Hal Prince and Stephen Sondheim, or the Hollywood films she’s cast, or the work she’s done promoting diversity on the American stage…but if you listen to this week’s show, you’ll know all about it when Chris catches up with Joanna in her Brooklyn apartment.
And then, just to cap things off, Chris will lock horns with Marc Gracie for their fortnightly movie reviews…this time it’s Destroyer, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote and The Sisters Brothers. That’s all on this week’s Behind the Scenes, with Chris Thompson, right here on Vision Australia Radio.
