It must be the start of April, because Theatre Network Australia’s Executive Officer Nicole Beyer is here to give us all the lowdown on what TNA’s been up to, before introducing us to another remarkable TNA member. This month it’s Xanthe Beesley, Co-Artistic Director of Union House Theatre at Melbourne University, Artistic Programme Manager at LaMama Theatre and a participant in the MTC’s Women in Theatre Programme.
In an action-packed show, Chris profiles the winners of last week’s 36th annual Green Room Awards ceremony, handing out more than sixty awards to outstanding artists and productions presented on the Melbourne stage during 2018. We won’t have time to meet them all, so we’ll just meet Director Davina Wright and Producer/Actor Xavier O’Shannessy, who picked up two gongs for their outstanding Fringe Festival show, This Is Grayson.
Then we’re off to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. First up we’ll meet Jeff Achtem, Director and Co-Writer of the very funny and very clever shadow puppetry show Stark and Dormy. And then we’ll have a quick chat with one of Vision Australia’s own…by day she’s Campaigns Advisor for Advocacy and Engagement at Vision Australia, but by night she’s Reeni Inosha performing in the return season of her 2018 hit, Enlighten Me A Little.
And finally, we’ll drop into the gallery space at the Koori Heritage Trust to meet Peta Clancy who’ll walk and talk us through her fascinating and moving photographic exhibition, Undercurrent, which uses the artist’s craft to remind us of terrible massacres that sit both literally and figuratively beneath the surface.
It’s a big show this week on Behind the Scenes with Chris Thompson, right here on Vision Australia Radio.
