Buses to replace trains on the Glen Waverley Line, Melbourne

02 April 2020

Metro Trains are advising Vision Australia Radio listeners in Melbourne that buses are to replace trains on the Glen Waverley Line from 9pm Friday 3 April to Sunday 12 April.

What’s happening?

As part of Victoria’s Big Build, the Toorak Road, Kooyong level crossing will be removed by building a rail bridge over Toorak Road. By elevating the rail line, we will ease the

bottleneck for traffic entering and exiting the Monash Freeway, improve cycling and pedestrian connections, and create new open spaces for the community to enjoy.

Approximately 37,000 vehicles travel through the Toorak Road level crossing, with boom gates down for around 35 per cent of the morning peak. To ensure the works can take place safely, buses will replace trains on the Glen Waverley Line between Burnley and East Malvern. From Monday 13 April, trains will run along the new elevated rail structure above Toorak Road.

Car park closures

Car park changes will take place at various stations along the Glen Waverley line, including closing the eastern side of the East Malvern Station car park. For more information visit ptv.vic.gov.au or call 1800 800 007.
