The Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic announces an exciting collaboration with Vision Australia Radio on Mother’s Day

24 April 2020

The Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic (MDC), Australia’s largest breast cancer fundraiser, is excited to announce a new collaboration with Vision Australia Radio (VAR) as our digital community broadcaster to celebrate this iconic event on Mother’s Day.

For more than 22 years the Mother’s Day Classic has brought the community together to raise funds for vital breast cancer research and to celebrate and remember those touched by breast cancer. Vision Australia is Australia’s leading national provider of blindness and low vision services.

In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever to stay connected, keep active and bring the community together.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Mother’s Day Classic is now running as a virtual interactive event and offering supporters as well as the broader community the opportunity to participate in a virtual challenge. Registered participants gain access to an exclusive array of interactive content to become a part of something big and contribute to making a real difference on this special day.

The Mother’s Day Classicis very pleased to be working with Vision Australia Radio to deliver a two-hour broadcast on Mother’s Day on 10 May, to unite the community and help raise awareness and funds for life-changing breast cancer research.

There are strong synergies between our two community focused organisations and this collaboration enables us to celebrate a shared commitment to help communities stay connected and healthy.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in Australia. Its incidence is rising faster than any other cancer – with 8 women dying from the disease every single day.

A woman’s risk of breast cancer is now 1 in 7, up from 1 in 8 in the last year alone.

The Mother’s Day Classic has donated over $37 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s (NBCF) to fund vital research projects.

Founded by:

Women in Super (WIS)*

is a national member organisation consisting of women working in the superannuation and related financial services industries. WIS cares about the health of women as well as their financial wellbeing and in 1998 established the Mother’s Day Classic, an event which has become the single largest donor to the NBCF.

NBCF: The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)*

is Australia’s leading national body funding game-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

We receive no government funding. What we do, would not be possible without the support and generosity of people and organisations like YOU. Our mission is simple: stop deaths from breast cancer. How? By identifying, funding and championing world-class research - research that will help us detect tumours earlier, improve treatment outcomes, and ultimately – save lives. To date, NBCF has raised over $181 million to fund 556 world-class breast cancer research projects in Australia.

ME: Proud major sponsor
