Vision Australia’s Albury office is on the move, and though vast improvements are being made to offer our clients and Vision Australia Radio listeners a better service and first-hand experience, our local radio programming will temporarily cease effective immediately. “The upkeep of a radio station is a challenge at the best of times, packing up studios and relocating them to a new premises is not only a costly exercise, it is a time consuming one” explains Conrad Browne, manager of Vision Australia Audio - Radio and Audio Services.
“It’s been hard to estimate when the said service disruptions would need to be implemented as our radio studio relocation is a part of a bigger relocation strategy alongside our client services team, regrettably, we understand that this information may have come as a surprise to our Albury listeners but the work being carried out sooner rather than later will mean we can get back to our regular programming as soon as possible.”
The Vision Australia Radio Network comprises of 15 radio services with AM radio services in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and seven services in Regional Victoria. There are also five digital radio services. Continuous updates need to be undertaken across the network in order to provide this essential service to the blind, low vision and print-handicapped members of our community.
“Providing news and information in accessible formats is just as important in our regional centres as it is in our cities. Vision Australia Radio keeps our listeners connected to their local communities and informed on the great client services available to them in their local area,” says Conrad. “We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Vision Australia Radio remains firmly committed to providing this vital information service for the blind and low vision communities in Albury.”
For now, our Albury listeners will be able to tune in to our regular radio frequency on 101.7FM, and hear a mix of content being presented from our Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Geelong studios. Our programming will continue to bring you news on the upcoming federal election, and we will present all of your favourite specialist programs such as Talking Law, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Topical Island and Connections, to name a few.
