Vision Australia Radio celebrates continued partnership with Melbourne Writers Festival 2025

08 May 2025

Vision Australia Radio is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with the Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) in 2025, reinforcing our shared commitment to accessibility and inclusion in the literary arts. This collaboration ensures that Melburnians who are blind or have low vision can fully engage with the festival's rich array of events and discussions.

This year, Vision Australia Radio is broadcasting a selection of MWF events, allowing listeners to experience the festival remotely. This includes high-profile author interviews and panel discussions, bringing the festival's vibrant conversations to a broader audience.

Our Kooyong location will host several MWF events, such as the In Conversation sessions with acclaimed authors Nardi Simpson and Kate Grenville. These events are designed with accessibility in mind, featuring wheelchair access, hearing loops and other accommodations to ensure an inclusive experience for all attendees.

Jason Gipps, Vision Australia Radio Community Engagement Coordinator, emphasises the significance of this partnership:

"Vision Australia Radio takes pride in our long-running annual partnership with MWF, promoting their events on-air, supporting Vision Australia Library-hosted events at our Kooyong location, and providing practical tips to MWF volunteers to support the needs of blind and low vision patrons who attend live events. The partnership also supports our desire to make more events accessible to our community and supporting them in their information needs along the way."

We invite our listeners to tune in to Vision Australia Radio for festival coverage and to participate in the events hosted at our Kooyong location. For more information on the Melbourne Writers Festival and to access the audio program guide, please visit mwf.com.au.

Together, we continue to champion accessibility and celebrate the transformative power of storytelling.
