Vision Australia Radio continues proud partnership with Focus on Ability Film Festival in 2025

16 June 2025

Vision Australia Radio is proud to continue its partnership in 2025 with the Focus on Ability™ Film Festival, a celebration of storytelling that places a spotlight on the talents and achievements of people with disability.

Now in its 17th year, the Focus on Ability Film Festival continues to grow as a powerful platform for inclusion, diversity and awareness. This year’s festival features hundreds of short films from Australia and across the globe, all centred around the theme of “Focus on the Ability,” encouraging filmmakers to shift perceptions and celebrate the strengths of individuals with disability.

Our Vision Australia Radio network is once again supporting the festival by sharing a selection of these powerful stories on-air and online. Through interviews, audio versions of selected films and special feature segments across our national network, we are helping bring these compelling narratives to life for our audience, including those who are blind, have low vision, or a print disability.

“Partnering with the Focus on Ability Film Festival aligns beautifully with our mission to amplify the voices of people with disability,” said Jason Gipps, Community Engagement Coordinator at Vision Australia Radio. “The creativity and authenticity of these films not only entertain, but challenge stereotypes and inspire action.”

The festival’s inclusive approach provides opportunities for both emerging and experienced filmmakers, with prize categories spanning school, open and international divisions. Many previous entrants have gone on to launch professional careers in film and media, thanks to the exposure and support gained through their participation.

Tune in to Vision Australia Radio throughout the coming months as we celebrate this year’s entries, speak with filmmakers and participants, and showcase the impact of this extraordinary initiative.
